Currently there are no legal required qualifications to be a nanny; however we recommend that our candidates hold a qualification from one of the education bodies listed below. These recognise that candidates would have studied for two years and reached a level 3 qualification and ensure the candidates are capable of working in an unsupervised environment:
The ‘Early Years Educator’ suite of qualifications offered by awarding bodies including CACHE, Pearson and City & Guilds such as:
- Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator)
- Level 3 Diploma For the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator)
- Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator)
- Level 3 Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy – Birth to Seven (Early Years Educator)
Previously offered level 3 qualifications in childcare for nannies
These qualifications predate the Early Years Educator qualifications but are still full and relevant.

- Level 3 NVQ in Childcare and Education
- Level 3 NVQ in Children’s Care, Learning and Development
- Level 3 NVQ in Early Years Care and Education

Whilst we recommend that our candidates hold a childcare qualification listed above we have some experienced candidates with a proven track record who do not have a childcare qualification. These individuals have stood out to us by showing true commitment and passion in becoming amazing nannies.
